The thesis is publicly discussed, and each member of Discussion and judgment committee submits an individual report on it, and the committee submits a collective report including its proposal regarding granting the study the academic degree and the grade that is granted according to the internal regulation, provided that the average grades obtained by the student in the courses and the thesis are taken into account in calculating this grade. The report is presented to the relevant department council for approval, and then to the Faculty council to approve or take what it deems appropriate regarding granting the degree.
The Judgment Committee may recommend returning the thesis to the researcher to complete what it sees as a deficiency, provided that it submits a collective report to the relevant department council, recommending to give the researcher some time to complete its observation within six months at most from the date of the discussion session, provided that the committee or whoever it delegates to approve the thesis or not.
The Committee for Discussion and Judgment may grant an honors degree to those who get a grade (B) very good, and it may decide to exchange the thesis with other universities, and it may also recommend printing the thesis at the expense of the university.
In the certificate, the subject of the thesis submitted by the student and the grade with which it was granted shall be indicated.
The researcher must print his thesis according to the specifications and instructions determined by the General Administration of Graduate Studies at the university, and an electronic copy is deposited with that administration, as well as with Graduate Studies administration in the Faculty. He must also deposit hard copies of the thesis with these two administrations after discussing and correcting them according to what was stated in the report of the discussion and judgment committee, and in with number determined by the university.
Discussion and Judgment Committee
1-After completing its thesis, the supervisor of the thesis submits a report to the relevant department council regarding its validity for discussion, accompanied by a proposal to form a discussion committee to judge the thesis.
2-the discussion and judgment committee on the thesis is formed of three members, one of them is the supervisor of the thesis and the other two members are from the working or full-time professors or assistant professors, and the head of the committee will be the oldest of them. In case of multiple supervisors, except Lecturers, they may participate in the committee, provided that they have one vote.
3-The Graduate Studies and Research administration at the university provides the proposed formation of the thesis discussion committee before the discussion date, in order to accredit the formation from university’s vice president for graduate studies and research, and it is not permissible to discuss the thesis only after the formation is accredited.
4- The thesis is discussed in the faculty within six months from the date of the university administration’s approval of the formation. If the thesis is not discussed within this period, the committee is re-accredited with the same previous formation, and in case of the committee is not convened, the formation of the committee will be changed with other members.
