Follow up to the student and de-registration
- The thesis supervisor submits to the relevant department council a report every six months in each academic year on the student’s progress in his research, and the department council’s recommendation regarding the presented report to the faculty council.
- In light of this report, the faculty Council may cancel the thesis registration under the Article (102) of the implementing Regulations of the Universities Organization Act.
In all cases, the thesis registration is canceled after five years from the date of its registration, unless the Faculty council decides to maintain the registration for another period that it determines based on the supervisor’s report after taking the opinion of the relevant department council, provided that this period does not exceed two years.
- Supervision of the thesis is for only two professors or assistant professors.
- The maximum number of theses allowed to be supervised by professors for Egyptian students is fifteen theses and for assistant professor fifteen theses, and this does not include theses for teaching assistants, assistant lecturers and expatriates, and the University Council may increase the maximum after the approval of Faculty Council.
